Overview
Purchase Order Stock Availability shows on-hand and forecasted quantities on Odoo 18 purchase order lines, helping purchasing teams avoid over-ordering.
Supports v 18.0 — available directly on the Odoo Apps Store.
Description
When creating a purchase order in Odoo 18, procurement teams often need to switch to the Inventory app to check whether enough stock already exists before deciding how much to order. This module addresses that gap by adding Purchase Order Stock Availability data directly into the purchase order line view, so buyers can see current stock and forecasted quantity without leaving the purchase order form.
Key Features
- On Hand Quantity Display: shows the current stock quantity directly on the purchase order line, removing the need to open a separate Inventory tab.
- Forecasted Quantity: displays future stock quantity, accounting for incoming and outgoing inventory moves.
- Stock Coverage Percentage: shows what percentage of the ordered quantity is already covered by existing forecasted stock.
- Color Coding: visual indicators mark stock status — green for sufficient stock on hand, red for out of stock where a purchase is needed.
- Detailed Stock Popup: a button opens a breakdown of stock across different warehouse locations.
- Draft State Only: the stock fields are visible and update in real time only while the purchase order is in Draft (RFQ) state.
- Unit of Measure Support: quantities are correctly handled according to the unit of measure defined on the product.
How It Works
The added fields are optional columns on the purchase order line table, accessible from Purchases → Orders → Requests for Quotation. Users click the optional columns icon (three dots) at the top right of the line table and enable the "Qty On Hand", "Forecasted Qty", and "Stock Coverage" fields. Once enabled, these fields display Purchase Order Stock Availability information for each product line while the order remains in Draft state. A dedicated button opens a popup showing the stock breakdown by warehouse location. Once the purchase order is confirmed, the stock field values are fixed and no longer update.
Business Use Cases
Purchasing teams and procurement managers using Odoo 18 can use this module to verify stock levels while building a purchase order, reducing the chance of ordering quantities that are already covered by existing inventory. For example, a buyer preparing a request for quotation can immediately see the on-hand quantity and forecasted quantity for each product line, along with a stock coverage percentage, before deciding how much to order. The color-coded indicators make it easy to identify at a glance which lines represent products that are genuinely out of stock (red) versus products where sufficient stock already exists (green). The detailed stock popup is useful when a business operates multiple warehouse locations and needs to confirm where the available stock is physically located before finalizing the order quantity.
