Sony SEL50F18 50mm F1.8 OSS Prime Lens for E-Mount APS-C Cameras (Black)

I bought this lens with my ZVE10 for portrait photography, and also a little bit of travel photos. It was very good, crisp, clear and all.But after a little bit of research, I saw that sigma 18-50 2.8 lens is almost performing the same- crisp and clear photos with a variable zoom. Low light is not as good as this Sony 1.8 lens, but I can manage that on Lightroom. Bokeh is also deeper than sigma 2.8, as it is 1.8 , but I can manage that on Lightroom also.Although the price is much cheaper here than sigma lens. but if you want to invest one time, then I will suggest sigma 18-50 as you can practically use more.

Really a good beginner lens. I've paired it with my ZVE10 and it works brilliantly, the Boken is so creamy and sharpness is great in comparison to my old kit lens. Though this lens has some amount of chromatic abrasion green and pink hue here and there but it to the untrained eye it won't make much of an issue. Auto focus is super fast. Subject seperation is also very good.

I guess most of the people buying this lens are newbies with a mirror less camera. I also belong to the same category, so I guess I would be the best person to give the perfect insights to this lens.Price - Cheapest prime lens possible.OSS - GreatAutofocus - PerfectImage Quality - Average, not so sharpBokeh - Perfect for portrait and Bokeh. Buttery smooth background comes out of it.Low Light performance - Too goodNote - Your images would be zoomed in, so you cannot use this lens in tight spaces. You need to stand atleast 4/5 feet away from your subject to get atleast something. Due to crop factor of my A6000 the 50 mm is basically 75 mm for me, so if you are using an APSC camera then do factor that while calculating the focal length.It's awesome lens for beginners, quite light and easy to carry. The possibilities are infinite with this but primarily think it or use it for shooting portraits.

very good lens this price range but sigm 56 mm 1.4 is better option But its price is also double, so sony 50 mm 1.4 it is decent for the price.i am use with my Sony A6600 very good performance

One of the best lens in eco-friendly price

Can't add much to what you'd read on dpreview or elsewhere, but:-PROS:1. Sharper and obviously much faster than kit lens.2. Focuses silently and reasonably fast in sunny environments3. Colours are rendered beautifully, bokeh is nice4. Excellent portrait lensCONS:1. Very slow to focus in the dark especially with a contrast detect body like mine (A5000)2. Focus by wire ring a bit too slow, it always fine tunes when you'd like to coarse tune. Rotation speed based focus speed calibration should have been implemented.3. Exhibits lots chromatic aberration on high contrast areas from F1.8-2.5Will post pics later. On the whole probably the best bang for the buck E mount lens, if you're stuck with a Sony mirrorless. Otherwise I'd suggest just go with Canon/Nikon/Fuji, so you'll have a much better/cheaper lens selection.

Good sharp Budget lens. focus breathing is there but does not affect to photo. but the manual focus ring is slow. overall good lens.

Good lens for all kind of photoshoot but very pricy.

Les plus :- compact- léger- bonne à très bonne qualité d'image- bonne netteté- aberrations chromatiques présentes mais contrôlées (sauf cas extrême)- AF efficace et silencieux (il a quand même ces limites dans certaines situations)- qualité général- distance minimale de focus assez sympa (juste bonne)- équivalent en plein format d'un 75mm f2.7 (facteur de recadrage de 1.5* apsc)- la stabilisation bonne à moyenne- la focal de portrait pas excellence- un bon bokeh (flou d'arrière plan artistique) en portrait serré comme en portrait de pied- prix raisonnableLes moins :- F1.8 (équivalent en plein format f2.7) c'est bien mais on aurait évidemment préféré un f1.4- pas grand chose- distance minimale de focus bofUn objectif vraiment sympa pour sa qualité general (image et construction), sa légèreté et compacité, sa stab utile, et son f1.8 bon en basse lumière et très sympa en bokeh !Il trouvera facilement sa place dans votre sac, et joue pleinement la carte de sony avec sa volonté de compact/léger/abordable.
